THE NEW BATTLEWASH COLLECTION
Written by: Aiya Madarang
In our collection this season, we’ve debuted a new look: Battlewash. Developed to replicate Alpha’s archive garments made for the US military, we produced this look with a special garment dye and distressing process that breaks down the colors of the fabric, resulting in a more worn-in, vintage aesthetic.
The first in this new line is the MA-1 Natus Battlewash Flight Jacket with a removable, double-layer fleece hood and the Alpha logo on the hood and zipper extension. It’s a midweight piece and conveniently reversible.
The MA-1 Apollo Flight Jacket in battlewash is available from our special NASA collection. It features NASA and Apollo patches on the front chest area as well as patches on the back that honor the Apollo spaceflight missions flown between 1963 and 1972. NASA’s Apollo program, now celebrating its 50th anniversary, is famous for some of the greatest technological advancements of the century, including putting a man on the moon.
Alpha’s N-2B Parka is now also available in battlewash. Built to withstand harsh cold weather conditions, this parka features a zip-down hood lined with faux mouton fur and unique ‘pass-through’ front pockets, a feature originally designed for pilots to be able to reach their pants pockets without pulling their hands out in the cold.
Our battlewash collection reflects the values of timelessness and endurance constructed into every Alpha piece. With this new look, we’re continuing our tradition of infusing our most classic designs with style innovation and ingenuity.
