Alpha Industries recently teamed up with Alyx Studios to create clean new versions of the classic MA-1 Flight Jacket.
For the past decade, Alyx Studios’ creative director Matthew Williams has worked with top talents in the realms of music, art, and fashion to shape a refined aesthetic universe grounded in street culture. However, his passionate interest in fashion philosophy and garment construction led him into presenting his collection – Alyx. His work harnesses inspiration from his California youth and urban subcultures.
For the first piece, Williams took the Alpha Industries MA-1 Flight jacket and turned it into a unisex bomber for ALYX’s ‘E. 1999 Eternal’ Collection for A/W 17. The jacket integrates a full front zip for access, two snap front flap pockets, and a left sleeve extended tab zip pocket. It showcases a reversible design, with orange as the alternate color, and each jacket is individually treated with ALYX’s signature distressed effect throughout, making each garment unique. The collection name is printed on the back of the jacket, reading ‘E 1999 Eternal’.
For their current Spring/Summer 2017 collection, the collaborative MA-1 was also imprinted with the collection name reading, “New Happiness.”
Alyx also added an MA-1 to their upcoming resort collection entitled, “Naomi Ave.”
